Aesthetics Personalization

Personalization is the magic touch that makes Lookr stand out from the crowd. Think about it - photography is an art, and art can sometimes feel like this big, mysterious thing that's tough to get into. That's often because people don't really know what kind of style clicks with them or how that style evolves. Take Spotify as an example – despite iTunes, YouTube Music, and others, it remains king of the music apps. Why? Because Spotify gets you – it knows what tunes will make your heart sing. Lookr is like that best friend who just knows – but for photography. As your camera sidekick, Lookr knows the shots that'll make your soul happy.

Does personalization lead to privacy concern?

The topic of privacy versus user experience was brought up in my discussion with Alexa's Vice President during his visit to the Toronto office. While there's a portion of the consumer base that is particularly privacy-conscious, it's been observed that the larger segment of the public often prioritizes user experience. Envision a situation where each attempt to access LinkedIn requires explicit permission — would this be a benefit or a detriment to the platform? Such design dilemmas apply to numerous products, making it a commonplace that user experience is generally favored over privacy concerns.

Nonetheless, if privacy is an issue that needs to be addressed, there are several measures that can be employed to protect users' privacy while still leveraging data for personalization:

Such approaches can strike a balance between privacy and delivering a tailored user experience."

Network Effect

In the 'Spark' feature, it was highlighted that the spark pictures are sourced from three different resources: professionals, communities, and Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC). While AIGC could potentially provide an unlimited amount of data, its computational cost could be high, and there's a tendency for users to attribute less credibility to AI-generated photos as compared to those captured by professionals or influencers. This could be because photos taken by humans often carry more sentimental value than those generated impersonally.

We are centralizing these sentimental value into Lookr community, a network established on the platform has the potential to enhance user loyalty as they become increasingly involved in the community. To foster this, the platform actively cultivates partnerships with photographers and influencers from various social networks. This collaboration is beneficial for both parties: photographers and influencers contribute high-quality images and bring in traffic, while the platform provides them with greater exposure and potential income. This mutually beneficial situation can create a growth marketing loop, ultimately leading to enhanced customer loyalty.
